Personal background
Retired U.S. Navy Fire Control Electronics Technician. I've always enjoyed anything scientific or technical, especially as it relates to astrology and space exploration. I'm only an hour away from the Kennedy Space Center and visit frequently. The new Shuttle Atlantis attraction recently opened is AWESOME (and that's an understatement)!! My relatives in the UK tell me they enjoy visiting this complex more so than any other attraction in the greater Orlando area when here on holiday (you know what I'm talking about). We're also home to the Orlando Science Center (Crosby) Observatory as well as the UCF Robinson Observatory and several others throughout the state.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm new to SETI@home but to borrow a quote from Jodi Foster's character in the movie, "Contact" she states, "The Universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So, if it's just us...seems like an awful waste of SPACE !!"

It's great to be a part of the LARGEST SuperComputer in the world tasked with discovering Extraterrestrial Intelligence. I read somewhere in the site that it is estimated the project will succeed in making this confirmation sometime between 2020 and 2025. Did I read/interpret that correctly? To be a part of this is both thrilling and humbling. Confirming this sooner would just be icing on the cake !!
