Personal background |
After quite a bit of changes in professions [thus "making" me recreating different accounts for seti], I finally settled down and used my personal email for a seti account. About me, I'm tech-junkie, computer geek, musician, and 'retired' jock--I suppose. I have always been fascinated with number crunching machines. Truth be told I would love to have all of the different platforms listed on this site at home crunching seti out for me. And cluster them up with using Beowulf, or some kind of parallel processing.
A bit more about myself, I'm a wanna-be professional student, but I get distracted from the academic end of it with my music and photography. Eventually I'll finish my degree in Computer Science and Philosophy, and pursue a teaching career with it. But until then I'm a system administrator for a great bookstore in Denver, Colorado, USA -- Tattered Cover Bookstore [no advertising here, I've been a loyal customer here for years before I start working here.]
Beside work, my rehearsals, and photo sessions, I spend most of my time doing volunteering work around the Denver Metro. It's quite tough to have a normal life doing this much work, but it's the greatest thing there is in life. My family often share our volunteering time with each other over dinner.
Hmmm... for working project, I am rebuilding all of my wintel boxes and installing Suse Linux on them, except for 1 where I use for playing my games, and listening to mp3 on it [I LOVE WinAmp and Geiss combination for a listening to music]. And I'm also shopping online for all/or as much as I could afford Unix flavor boxes. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Being an active and devoted Catholic, I struggle at time thinking of the possibility of life beyond Earth. But I do acknowledge that as to whether my faith could stand a chance of being uprooted with any discoveries, I need join this caravan to prove otherwise. I am not conceding to the notion that there are life beyond Earth, but rather I am willing to validify the notion of ET with the experts using modern technics of thinking.
If truth is told through illustrations through out the ages, let me be a part of this history I could pass on. If we are truly not alone, are we too advance for others as to a beacon for other to "tune" in or a meteor rite that will send other species to an ice age? The possibilities are endless as to the stars in heaven, and the angelic voices of "We come in peace" we are trying to send.
Although I think of Seti as an art project of technological illustrations, it would be quite a masterpiece if I could use my dual mobos to help crunch out these number faster. |
