Personal background
Well I'm 38 years old I am a federal employee, please don't hold that against me. I'm married and have 3 kids and I southern California so I get to enjoy lots of outdoor activities. We go camping, hiking, time at the beach, of course we are into astronomy and I try to teach the kids about the stars whenever we get out away from the light wash of the city. We are going to be traveling cross country next year and I am planning to take a side trip to the VLA in New Mexico. My little side trips get interesting. Like the one I took in Winslow AZ. to Meteor Crater. My wife loved that. Devils Tower is still on the list. That's about it take care and good hunting.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I look at it as a chance to be a part of something great. To contribute to what might be the greatest discovery of mankind. The sad thing is that many people don't just take a minute and put it on their computer and forget about it. They could never even glance at it and while they are running around doing stuff leaving computers sitting or leaving them up overnight, the data could be crunched on an huge scale if everybody did it.
If I were To suggest one thing about the project, P.R., I would get the word out, maybe commercials on Science Channel, maybe a web campaign, booth at Comic Con. Lets face it we are a nation of nerds who are looking for Aliens and we are your target audience. Talk to us and you will find more users. I understand that budgets are an issue but it may be worth it.
