I am a 40 year old father of 2 girls. I have always been interested in the stars, so I thought I should participate as a means of possibly finding something out there... I run Seti@home on several work computers as well as my home network. Most people think I'm a little strange for taking the time to install this program..., they just don't seem to understand the science involved. I actually was accused at one time of attempting to spy on everyone because someone who should never touch a keyboard saw "Seti Spy" running in the tray. Needless to say, after she got through deleting as much as she could off the machine, I had to completely rework it to get it back online... lol
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
To quote a movie, "it should would be a lot of wasted space if we were alone". I truly believe that we are not in fact alone. Hopefully, we will find some sort of life within my lifetime, but I doubt it. I believe that we should definitely be transmitting a beacon to locate other races, species, lifeforms.
