Personal background
Hi, my name is Dan, I live in Saint Louis currently. Ever since I was in grade school, 8 or 9 years old, my hobbies have been "meteorology, astronomy and psychology. I ended up getting a master's degree in clinical social work and letting the degree lead me professionally. I am still interested in weather fore casting, especially severe weather. My interest in astronomy has turned more toward cosmology, theoretical gravitational physics and a couple of other areas that may not be practical, they are great for exercising knowledge and ability in order to take research and describe all aspects of the hypothesis and then the results, down to each word. Then putting it back together, and giving detailed descriptions of each phenomena with the result being that most adults would understand what they are reading, without any prerequisite math, dif e q, mechanics or physics.
Besides all this stuff, I also really love hockey-- GO BLUES!

More geek info: I have a MacBook OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion 2.13 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo with RAM memory of 4GB 800MHz 2 DDR2 SDRAM, Internal HD 300GB Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256MB with CUDA 5.0.25 And BOINC 7.0.31

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because detecting signs of life, particularly intelligent life somewhere other than on Earth is one of our most intriguing questions and important endeavors during the entire history of mankind. Being able to involve people around the world with global community computing allows us to connect with other people and share the search for other life. On the other hand, we also are able to build on our individual experiences with SETI@home, expanding our personal narratives.
