Personal background |
Amateur astronomer beginner. Currenlty taking my first astronomy course (looking for my first telescope right now!), re-taking an almost forgotten childhood dream. Avid Stephen Hawking reader, I know he only represents the tip of the iceberg in physics but hey! you have to start somewhere :), I am also a sociologist, you can imagine how I think about the possibility of intelligent life existing somewhere else in the universe, how they behave, as sentient beings what things do they consider relevant, how are they organized, how different their mental processes are from ours... is just too much, the mere probability of their existence is mind boggling to me. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Even though there's hard science behind it, I consider SETI to be probably the most relevant social and cultural research initiative in existence, in terms of the potential impact in our collective behavior should another intelligence made contact with us. If SETI ever confirms the existence of intelligent life somewhere else, well, that event will be a gamechanger. |
