Personal background
My name is Benjamin Marshall Crofoot. I am a 35 year old white male from Spokane Washington, USA. I am a graduate of Interface Computer School, and hold Certificates in computer tech support and repair, as well as network administration from COMPTIA. I am The owner and lead tech of Fast and Friendly P.C. Support and Repair, a small company.
I enjoy all aspects of computing. I am an avid Hermit Crab keeper. This is my love. I enjoy skiing and snowboarding. Vert and park, as well as downhill skateboarding, basketball, frisbee, Nine Palms Praying Mantis Kung Fu, and Togakure Ryu Ninpo-Taijutsu. I also enjoy quick shot target practice with handguns and am getting into the art of long range sniping.
Although I am hopeful about contacting alien life, I feel that we as a race (humans) have a long way to go as a society before we will be welcome to expand into the universe. We have to prove we can take care of our planet before the forces that be would feel comfortable letting us expand into the universe. This is just my opinion.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I feel that we need to pitch in to help process all the data that we are collecting. From what I have heard we currently can collect data 5 times faster than we can process it. This needs to change!
I think this project is wonderful, however we could use some press, and need to make more people in the intellectual computer literate culture aware of and get them to participate in the project. We only need some 1,200,000 more volunteers and we can process the data in a real time capacity!! If I had any suggestions that would be it, more press and positive propaganda about the project. Post links! EVERYONE!!
