Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists?

>YES
If so, when and how will humans discover it?
> I do not think humans will discover extraterrestrial life. I think human’s general acceptance of extraterrestrial life happens one of two ways, either

1. Extraterrestrial life already has discovered humans, or will discovered humans & will make their presence known when they, extraterrestrial life, believes that we, Humans, have become sufficiently technologically, culturally, & evolutionally stable enough to accept the fact that we are not the center of the universe, but one among many. Or

2. Humans do not discover extraterrestrial life, so much as the refuse from extraterrestrial life. In other words, we discover their trash, thereby becoming aware of their existence. Of course this may have already happened & our government is just keeping it from the general public because those in the know do not believe we can accept the fact that we are not the center of the universe, but one among many.

What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?

> The benefits could be beyond imagination. Unfortunately, so could the dangers.

Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?
>Absolutely! The only reason not to transmit a beacon is so we will not be found. This is ludicrous! Any civilization technologically capable of making an interstellar journey to our system is certainly technologically capable of finding us without a homing beacon!
However, by transmitting an open invitation, stating our desire to know and be known, our peaceful scientific interest in the galaxy, would certainly be better than having an advanced civilization pass judgment on us by analyzing our radio & television transmissions that bleed out of our system unedited and in no particular context, at the speed of light. Could you imagine what would be thought of us a civilization just from our news & soap operas?
