Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? I has to, our galaxy alone is too large for our planet to be the only one where, life started. Besides there are so many more galaxies out there that the chances are that at leaste one of them sparked life too.

Should we transmit a beacon? Aren't we already sending out waves and waves of signals from all our broadcasts? A beacon that is much stronger would be an interesting idea. Are we as a global socity xenophobic? I'm not but the world could react violently if we were to propose the idea of letting others know our location. But then again, we've done just that with the Voyager spacecraft too.

Why do I run SETI@home? Becuase I beleive that out there somewhere are other life forms. To be alone here would be devastating. Once we become truly space bound, we will have to meet others, if we don't we'll stagnate as a race.
