Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I am fascinated with the question "Has intelligent life evolved elsewhere?" and it is the one thing I would like to know in my lifetime. Probability suggests life has evolved elsewhere but probability also suggests that within our current short timeframe of searching we probably won't find it. However, there is a chance we might so we should search. Our chances wll also improve when we search known planetary systems.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
