Personal background
I currently run BOINC with various projects on both my Desktop and Laptop computer. SETI Classic is still crunching away on my PowerMac 6100/66 (w/ G3 266 upgrade card) as long as it can. Hopefully, someone will come through with an (ambitious) project to create a BOINC client for Classic MacOS, or even OS X 10.2 for that matter.

You can find links to my Macserver (the PM6100--on 24/7, perfect use for a DC application) and info about my other computers, other stuff I do, etc. on my website.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there has to be life somewhere out there. I just hope that when we find it, we will be able to find a way to communicate. Communication is key, especially if we're looking to avoid an interplanetary war. Just hope the guy they send to make "first contact" doesn't screw it up. I hope we can at least make a few allies, before someone thinks we're too nosy and fights back. Mabye when we get further out in space we'll just run into some lesser developed species, or those with lesser technology enslaved by a bunch of parasitic organisms that demand they be worshipped as gods (Stargate, anyone?)... Though I don't think we'll be finding as many humanoid life forms, as we see so often in Science Fiction.

As for SETI@home, I'm all about distributed computing applications. I'm waiting for a company that will pay people to run distributed computing applications on their computers. I could make a few extra dollars; mabye even enough to buy a new computer or that BMW I've been looking at. Too bad AllAdvantage isn't running anymore. There just isn't enough free cash around these days. Stupid economic recession.
