Hi there I'm Joe - or Jowie if I feel like it.
30 years old, gwm, short eyes, blue hair... *ahem*
I'm a sorta computer programmer-cum-audio engineer-cum-general dogsbody, but I'm in a happy stable job, got a great relationship and am happy as a frenchman who has just invented a pair of self-removing trousers.
I'm a keen biker (Honda CBR), love to DJ out when I get the chance (prog & trance) and go clubbing regularly too. Always something going on!

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I'm a firm believer that something is/was/will be out there. Can't say if we will find it in my lifetime but if we don't search then we'll never find will we!
It's obsurd to think that somehow we are unique in a universe with practically infinite possibilities. So bring on the search! Unfortunately I had lagged behind for a while so now I am using 3 computers to try and catch up! Since I started SETI the computers I have used have gone from taking over 20 hours for some work units to under 2 hours!
If I had a suggestion for the SETI client it would be - make it a bit more user-friendly! How about being able to just request an extra work unit that you can run on another computer, then upload it again by just dragging it into the SETI window on the computer that is running? Basically a client for non-connected machines that allows basic input-output of work units. All the third-party stuff for SETI is hideously overcomplicated - designed by programmers - typical ;)
