Profile: Choctaw Lass

Personal background
My name is Bobbi and I was born in and have lived in Ruidoso, New Mexico for the greater part of my life. I live in the same area I was born in, that being the Lincoln National Forest. To the east of me, about an hours drive, is Roswell, NM aka "The Roswell Incident." Granted, it has become a very commercialized manner of financial gain, but the story behind it remains, just as the event in Socorro, NM, about an hour and a half from me. Then of course my own personal experience. Hence my obsession/fascination with the potential (the obvious) for other life forms in our vast cosmos.

To me, it is a very easy and obvious "theory" if you will, as, when one considers the vastness of our universe(s) how could we on Earth be so arrogant as to doubt, even for a second, the existence of life elsewhere? That WE are the only intelligent life forms anywhere becomes an almost laughable theory on its own. It just isn't possible that we are alone, and whether we ever find proof or get lucky via SETI finally picking up obvious other worldly sounds that prove the existence of other beings by actual communication, I will be thrilled but I most certainly won't be surprised. The Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence is important and needs to continue non-stop, so that some day we can show the doubters how wrong they've been all along, and though it will be a scientific discovery beyond all others, it will still feel good to be able to say,"We told you so." I totally admit finding the opportunity to say that more than a little intriguing. Remember, I AM human.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It all boils down to the fact that I am unable to help with SETI on the large scale I wish I could, but if I can take part, even in this small way, by sharing my computer and my broadband, to assist with the search and "listening," then my heart swells with joy, as something like this was never possible before the past two decades. It feels good to help in a cause and a belief I have had all my life and I am thrilled and excited to be able to help.

This is a wonderful opportunity and experience and having something happening on my computer that my teen aged daughter continually asks me about and is REALLY interested in is priceless as it assists with her education and is showing her things that she had really never considered before while being a teenager, hanging at the mall, hanging out with friends, and not looking beyond her own tiny corner of the planet.

THIS she is interested in and it is hard to find something educational for a girl her age that really grabs her and excites her, almost making me feel I owe U of C @ Berkeley a little tuition
