Profile: Stephen J Long

Personal background
Hi I'm 46 married (to Gwyneth), with a boy (Jacob) born in 1994 and 2 girls (Miriam and Zaria) born in 1999 and 2001.

I live in a village in North Hampshire in the UK and am employed supporting computers and systems for the service division of Panasonic in the UK.

I love all forms of technology, and my main hobby is driving narrow gauge (600mm) Steam Locomotives.

I am also a born-again charismatic christian.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I loaded SETI as soon as I could access it through the corporate firewall, over 3 years ago.

I first became aware of SETI@home through the UK TV program Tomorrows World.

I used to run SETI on 3 of my work PC's:
the CLI on 2 x 1.8Ghz running XP (4-6 hrs per WU) and the GUI on a 166Mhz (Clocked at 200Mhz) Running WIndows 98 (60ish Hrs Per WU) all cached with SETI Monitor.

I now run Boinc on a Windows 98SE Pentium II 266 machine only as my other two machines are locked down too much by our IT department to Load Boinc.
I still have to see how long an average work unit takes on this.

I hope that someone will find a signal this way, and beleive that we should monitor and try to decypher it before making any response.
