Personal background
My name is Johnny, and I'm a Unix programmer in California. I'm between jobs right now, so I have a bit more time to spend watching das blinkenlights. I run SETI@H on a PIII and a Transmeta Crusoe at 1GHz, both running Slackware Linux. Eventually, I hope to get it up and running on at least two other machines: another PIII (Linux, needs upgrade) and a 486 (OpenBSD, needs CPR).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't know if we're alone in the universe. It depends on a lot of variables that we don't know the answers of. But I'd hate to think we're not alone and just weren't looking.

Even if we never find anything, it's kind of cool to kick back and watch it run.
