Personal background |
29 year old refugee from the Anthropology world, currently working in computers.
I like computers, books, playing hyper-tennis and staying up really late thinking of things to write in little blurbs like this. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Yes, of course extraterrestrial life exists, although I doubt any of the possible beings out there could actually spell extraterrestrial, I mean come on, that's a tough one.
Not only should be be transmitting, but we are. Television, radio, wireless. Heck, I even stand in my backyard with a flashlight and send the latest dilbert comics via pulse, one...packet...at...a...time.
I run Seti@home because in a company full of geeks, it has helped thrust me to the highest status as alpha geek. Sure, I don't make as much as our CIO, but I've got Seti@home, xplanet AND a randome peer-to-peer file sharing program running.
That's way better than a pocket protector and a lab coat.
And I actually would like to assist Seti. The search is a valid one, and if a discovery is made, it would in truth be the greatest scientific discovery of our history.
