Personal background
Just an ageing computer nerd who has an interest in many things on computers, mostly games for now but I dabble in programming (I was once a full time programmer) and other things from 3D modelling and animation to programming Arduino based devices.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always believed there are other civilisations out there and I've been running SETI@Home since the late 90's when I first heard about the project. Though this account was created in 2009 as I had lost my old account login info after I had not had a computer for a few years!
I currently only run SETI@Home on a little old computer that runs Linux and my TeamSpeak server, since it is on all the time I thought why not have it use up the spare clock cycles helping SETI@Home once again, so for the first time I set it up on Linux (previously only ever using Windows versions). I don't run it on other devices because of heat issues but that one PC never gets hot sitting there running a TS server and SETI@Home. That would be my only criticism of the project, modern computers heat up a lot more than they used to when the CPU is in use and SETI makes a lot of use of it, especially if you want to be a big help to the project.
