Profile: Brian Ticknor

Personal background
I am a 68 year old, retired economics instructor and IT executive. I wrote my first program in 1959.
I've lived in Kansas City, MO since 1951 and have been married 48 years to the same woman. We have 2 daughters and 5 grand children. We will be moving to Tuscon in a couple of months. (Let's hear it for warm weather.)

I am a student of philosophy, theology, archaeology and neurophysiology. I look forward to taking some archeology classes under William Dever and some classes in astronomy at U of A when I get to Tucson.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I started 'doing' SETI when it was first offerred - just seemed like the thing to do. I had a couple of computers that mostly just sat around and it seemed like a waste to use them only for an hour or two a day. If we find anything, it will probably be a signal from a life form that existed thousands (or much more) of years ago. But, what the hell, if we don't look we will never find anything.
