Hi - my name is Mark, and I live in a small town on the eastern side of England (about 60 miles from London) called Brightlingsea.
My likes include science, astronomy and snooker. I have devised an interesting gambling system, which has proved a little fruitful, using the laws of "probabilities"...even the bookmakers' have to live by them...only I have been quite fortunate in finding out a tiny tiny flaw in live greyhound betting, which has enabled me to make a few pounds here and there :)
Don't get me wrong - I'm really not boasting - I'm just very happy to actually see the laws legally work against a profit-making organisation :) |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I first found out about SETI through watching Cosmos (with Carl Sagan) when I was much younger in the 1980's.....I recently was able to purchase the whole series and watch it all again :) It was so very sad when one of the world's good guys passed away...I personally think the world would be so much a better place with people who thought and acted the way Carl did....
I have always wanted to work for NASA from a young boy...a childhood dream, I guess - but of course I was certainly not bright enough to work for them, however with the advent of computers and technolgy, I am able to appreciate all the great and lovely work NASA and the scientists (plus people who help via sites like this) actually do! And being able to help, even in a very small way, makes life much better somehow....
I think SETI is a worthwhile project which should be funded properly...although you can imagine the military taking over the whole project should some semblance of life actually be found via this site! It'd be funded alright then...and took over too, no doubt. I'm just so glad that some humans actually care enough to explore the universe, with honesty and curiosity...and I feel exceptionally honoured to be a small part of such a community like the one this is :) |
