| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I have a fairly quick PC that would normally sit dormant for 10 hours a day, so it's resources would be best used for a good purpose such as SETI.
I think that space exploration is important for everyone, and should be among a primary goal of current science. We are at a dangerous time in civilization, where we have the ability to destroy the entire planet in a day but we have no method of evacuating to save our species if such a disaster were to happen.
Looking for E.T. is all but one method to this goal. Wide acceptance of nuclear power, nuclear fusion, nuclear propulsion, and space commercialization should all be other goals of modern humanity. |
