I live in Adelaide South Australia, a lovely little spot actually just south of the City proper. I've been here for many years now, looking up into the night sky wondering who was looking back at me ... as such, I thought it was about time I did something about that, so I joined the SETI program and started looking for "ET" !! So far, I am of course, just a tad disappointed NOT to have run into ET - yet - but I keep lookin' ... you just never know !
I'm pretty much a home body these days, unfortunately, due to an accident, my working days are behind me, so I have plenty of time to devote to the search. I've always had a facination for things 'up there', and was really captivated by Dr. Carl Sagan's remarkable Cosmos series (which I have here and occasionally still view - shows what sort of 'nut' I am about finding ET, doesn't it !! 8^ )
I firmly believe that, when the day finally does come, that I will be the one who finds ET, so the rest of you lot may as well pack up and go home 8^)~

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI because I genuinely believe we are NOT alone. To think we are, has to be an exceptionally narrow minded and closed way of viewing things. For example, take a look around you here on planet Earth and see just HOW abundant life HERE is, in its many millions of forms - if it can happen here, then it stands to reason that, in something as BIG as our universe, it MUST have happened elsewhere too. I am not suggesting that there is an identical "person" sitting at an identical computer doing exactly the same thing I am right now, but that the POSSIBILITY of it MUST exist !! As such, we all would be very sorry specimins if we did not do all we could do to find out ...
I think that programs such as SETI should be Govt. funded in ALL of the industrialised Nations of the world, spreading the load as it were. That way, the pressure of doing ALL the work would be greatly reduced upon those who currently shoulder much of the responsibility, and far more 'work' would be able to be done, meaning logically, the search would be shortened - if there is anything to find out there ...
One suggestion I would like to make is that, for those people such as myself, who currently run BOINC just for Seti2Home, being able to SEE what our work has accomplished, if anything, is as good a motivator as can be had, and due to changes at SETI, over time, this seems to have been forgotten ...
