Personal background
I've always held a facination with all things extraterrestrial, so when SETI@home came along ON MY BIRTHDAY (woohoo!), I was right there. Shortly after signing up, I started the MACINTOSH group, of which there are now (4/21/02) 42 members, but not quite 20 are active. My little iBook (G3) looks to be one of the slowest of the group, but as of early April '02 it runs SETI@home 24/7, so lookout deadbeats, here I come!

But thanks to all members for signing up, especially those who have hung in there and are really cranking out the numbers.

---- UPDATE ---- Jan. 18, 2009 *** IMPORTANT INFO ***
Team Macintosh now has a Members Only Forum here on the SETI@home site.
Macintosh Forum
Beginning today, messages to members will be posted in the forum, not here. See you there!

---- UPDATE ---- Jan. 10, 2009
In eight days, control of the Macintosh team will be returned to me. Since mid-1999 my old account has been virtually dead for reasons I won't detail, but on Jan. 18th I get it back thanks to someone waking up at Berkeley.
---- UPDATE 2 ---- Jan. 10, 2009
This group has a name. Macintosh. If you aren't running the SETI@home software on a Mac platform running a Mac OS, move to some other team. After Jan. 17th, you will be emailed and asked to move. You can guess what will be next.

---- UPDATE ----
The end of 2008 is nearing and still no word from any of our friends in the universe? Well, I've been gone a while, but now I see that we have control of our passwords ... finally. I guess I'll crunch a few numbers on this MacBook Pro and see what happens.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
WELCOME!
I founded the Macintosh team back in '99. It was the first Mac group in SETI@Home, but apparently not good enough for most judging by the number of specialty Mac groups that now exist. My thanks to all who have stuck with the group or joined recently, and especially to those who are still crunching the numbers. As I write this (Nov. 19, 2008) there are two new members in the past 24 hours and 15 of the 98 are active.
