Profile: Jombi

Personal background
I am a Software Architect for a genetic seed company in Story City, IA. I grew up in the Chicagoland area, attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in Computer Science.

I got into Seti@home from an internship a couple years back and have been hooked ever since.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it?
I do believe ET is out there. I've believed ever since I was 3 and saw ET for the first time. I'm not sure if we will ever find out where there are. Even if we did find them, I don't know if we would ever be able to reach them.

Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find?
I think we already are transmitting beacons. With all the radio waves shooting out of earth, I'm sure we look like a massive homing beacon. I think the Voyager probes had the right idea with their copper platters with the basics.

Why do you run SETI@home?
Because my computer gets lonely if it isn't doing anything productive.
