Simply put I am a contractor with the U.S. EPA. I have been a SETI@Home user since May 14, 1999. I am pleased to have remained in the top 1000 since beginning my contribution. Though nothing significant has been found yet no doubt many new facts will be learned from the data gathered.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have little doubt that extraterrestrial life exists. I expect humans will discover it in the next 1000 years. How ET microbes interact with earthly microbes will be interesting to study. Dangers abound and are likely to exist in this as well.
An extragalactic beacon would an invitation for meat eaters of the universe :)
