Personal background
“The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because it's only intangibles, ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on.”
-Chuck Palahniuk

Namasté. Shalom. Greetings. I'm a 21 year old anthropology major, English minor from southern Louisiana. I'm a Sagittarius, an artist--a joker, a smoker, a midnight toker--some have gone as far as to say that I get my lovin' on the run. I'm a definite gamer in any genre. Politically I am left-centre, and spiritually I'd probably be somewhat of an Eclectic Neopagan with a Buddhist philosophy. I have a true passion for a variety of musical forms--progressive metal, avant-garde, new age, folk, death metal, classical, world, et al. Anything more, feel free to ask.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do I run this? Simple reason, I suppose: Carl Sagan.

I mean, an estimate states there are roughly 10^22 to 10^24 stars in our universe--from everything I have learned about human history: religious ideologies, economic theory, political systems, linguistic structures, emperors and slaves, love-torn couples, saviors of mankind, invokers of destruction, all our great unconscious collection of hopes, dreams, and fears are all based on this lowly, blue planet revolving around a simple, fiery ball of hydrogen and helium, itself like countless grains of sand amidst an endless desert--I refuse to believe we must be the only forms of intelligent life in that great ocean of stars.

The writings of Sagan inspired me to try and look beyond science as a world of dusty tomes and standardized singular concepts, whilst infusing in me a sense of wonder at the greatness of the cosmos, an element of the romantic in the minuscule, a love of nature equal to that I received from the poetry of Thoreau and Whitman, and, not to mention, cannabis to enhance moods and intellectual experiences.

As for suggestions for SETI@home, I dropped Computer Science I in college, so my knowledge of that field is somewhat limited; I do what I can.
