Profile: Ramses

Personal background
Hi, i'm Ramses De Pauw from Antwerp Belgium.
I'm a 32 years old artist (specially paintings)and doing beside that all kinds of jobs to keep my head above water.
I like art,science and sport.
Since i was a kid i had a special interest in astronomy which i combine with my art now as i try to make paintings that are interpretations of radio frequency
interference.I make also totally different things Like paintings on plastic which represent 'mythical worlds '.
For the rest i make also music on my computer and i am hungry for knowledge
about the universe.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I was a SETI user from the beginning. When i first heard about SETI I was very excited. For me SETI is some kind of a pioneer like Columbus was in his time.
Since science began to discover that there must be water everywhere in the universe, that there must be planets everywhere, that life can exist in very hard conditions and in propably many ways i believe its very likely that there must be other life than ours somewhere.
However intelligent life is something different than a bacterie we would discover on (for example) Mars, i believe that the biggest 'evidence'for extra terrestrial intelligence is the fact that we exist on our fragile little earth
around a relative small sun like there are millions and millions.
I think that the biggest problem for meeting other E.T.s is the distance in the universe. We can not (yet)solve this problem.
Thats why i find this SETI projekt so interresting because i believe if we have ever a contact it wil be by some kind of a radio signal.
But because of the distances the radio signal which we discover will be from a time far away than our present time and by the time our signal will be discovered we will be propably thousend years ahead.
If it would be an E.T.lifeform which is far advanced than ours it could have solved the problem of the distance and now on its way to dominate the humans.
We made ourselves already known when we transmitted the first radio and T.V.signals across the earth and into space at the beginning of the 20th century. However, if we would be more advanced i think we would dominate.
Ofcoarse i like more to think that an encounter will push humanity forward with an exchange of new ideas but look at nature's survival of the fittest and this earth is still dominated by money, power and economics.
Will others be so different?
Anyway,i hope that SETI is continuing his search, that SETI gets more funds, more telescope time, and more computer power because i think there is a lot work to do
and we should examine every corner of the universe.
