Profile: NL FeatherDragon

Personal background
NL, or 'Northlight', is a freelance artist and hobby bird breeder in Manitoba, Canada. An amature naturalist since she was old enough to talk and always curious about nature, this animal fanatic regularly bird watches and attends her local parrot club. Astronomy is a favorite past time besides training her diabetic service dog, Aaerro and her PSych assist birds, Inkster and Archie.(Aaerro's Dogster Training Diary can be found at: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/768665). Born in 1976, this animal lover has experience working with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, 7 species of bird, rats, mice, a single hamster, 6 species of fish, and a partridge in a pear tree :-) .

Northlight started as a bird breeder in 2001 when her first pair of cockatiels laid eggs in a play box in the studio. She has since increased her flock from those original 4 birds to almost 16. Depending on the time of the year of course. She specializes in whiteface and pied cockatiels and green cheek conures, Plans for yellow sided conures are currently in the works and may start as early as 2009 -2010. She breeds twice a year and is working on perfecting 'co-parenting', a bird raising technique that requires very patient parrot parents and a lot of free time.

Domnijoe Pets and Art is the creative side of Northlight's life, being the name of her bird breeding hobby and her freelance art business. Though this business she is known also as 'Vampiric Conure'. She specializes in animals and fantasy art. Dragons and Dinosaurs are a long time passion of hers and has been in several art shows to display her work. The Parrot Club of Manitoba often accepts original art from this artist for displays and many of her conures adorn the walls of its members.

NL is a devoted Pagan/Wiccan-in-training since 1996. Her other non-scientific pursuits include ghosts, cryptozoology and too much Space Channel.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI, as far as Northlight is concerned, is as cool as cool can get. If alien life is not found, the potential discovery of other astronomical anomalies rates high on her '10 things I would love to discover' list. It is the knowledge that she is helping astronomers filter through millions (or more) stars worth of data that keeps her working on her projects, even when she would rather throw the computer out the nearest window.

Freelance Comic deadlines can be killer :-)
