Profile: Chris Brown

Personal background
Hi, my name is Chris Brown and my interests are music, multimedia, communication and the cosmos.

I've really become infatuated with cosmology in the past year or so. It started with the history channel universe shows... Now I absorb ever space related documentary I can fit on my dvr. I stole my daughters Meade 60mm beginner scope.... I know already that it will not be long before I invest in something nice. I think maybe I'm going to retire early from the advertising business to study the cosmos... this is something that I'm seriously considering.

Before I became a cosmology cheerleader....

I grew up in a musical family and I already knew a few guitar chords by the time I was 7 years old. I've been serious about guitar since I was about ten years old. I was in to punk rock when I was a teenager but even then I kept an open mind to quality musicianship no matter what genre. Now days I don't listen to much punk or current rock. I'm totally into jazz music. I spend all the time I can learning licks from albums by guys like John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Sonny Stitt, Chet Baker and so many others. I could type a list until the sun came up. I'd rather play guitar or go learn something that interests me.

I like to write about music theory and playing guitar because it pushes me to the next level. I also like to write about internet related topics. I blog about php and other web development technologies. I post a lot of links to cool projects and other good stuff. I've recently blogged about a few cosmology topics, but I'm not an expert so I mainly regurgitate information about topics that interest me.

When it comes to work... Premium design is what I'm all about. Fashion ad quality on the web. That's where we're going.

My business experience includes 9 years of management, design and creation of countless internet and printed materials. I've developed, managed, or consulted on something like 1000 projects. I've always had a knack for finding creative solutions in any given situation.

I currently run a web consulting company in the Dallas area with my business partner and long time associate Jason Busch. My wife Amanda helps us out too. We do it all. Our daily tasks range from on site consulting, sales and customer service to project management, design, and development. Every once in a while we outsource parts of a project to local experts, but not usually. With odd things like aerial photograph or satellite broadcast vans, sometimes a professional problem solver knows that he or she has to call in another brilliant mind.

I'm not sure who you are or why you read this far, but thanks for visiting.

Regards,

Chris Brown
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the project is awesome!

I'm glad to be able to contribute my extra processing power to such a cool effort.

I'm also interested in helping with the discovery of extrasolar planets in the future using distributed networks like SETI@home/boinc.
