| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I run SETI@home because a friend had it some years ago and at the time I was impressed by it's method and goals. There's something very satisfying about being part of a Multi-Beam. From what I know about it, I don't think the odds of the project of finding evidence of extra-terrestrial intelligence are very high. It's a lottery (lotto) thing, the reason I smoke despite knowing what it does to me: a tenously plausible suspension of disbelief.
Long may the sadly under-worked processors of the world have a chance to reach their full potential thanks to this and other projects. |
