Profile: Jaap Versteegh

Personal background
Hello, my name is Jaap Versteegh.
I'm a computer programmer from the Netherlands. Since I have no reason to believe you'll
have any interest in what my age is or what my hobbies are, I'll just stick to
saying that I really love it when the sun is shining like it is today.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it is really nice when a whole lot of people work together on something by their own free will.. Just for the beauty of it. Like free software projects, SETI@Home is a nice example of such an effort.

As for the discovery of extraterrestrial life... I'm not sure about that. It would be a logical next step in the process of reducing human importance in the universe by scientific discoveries.

The planet we live on has already been discovered to be only a little green/blue planet orbiting a small unregarded yellow sun in the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the galaxy rather than being the center of the universe. Considering this, it would make sense to assume that we are just another people living on it...
