Profile: BB

Personal background
My name is Barbara, or BB, as many call me, and I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I attended college in Oklahoma and earned degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice. I have been working in the field for almost twenty years! That explains my warped sense of humor for those who know me!

I love travel, movies, reading, music, old cars, the outdoors, camping, and nature. I have two cats, Percy and Q. I collect Edward Scissorhands memorabilia and Star Trek items from the original series (go Spock and Kirk!).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I definitely believe extraterrestrial life exists. The universe is too vast to only have "our" little world comprised of living and breathing beings. Humans may have already discovered evidence of other life forms, however, the general public may not be given full details of any contact. I'm not sure if humans are really ready to accept such a revalation and panic could easily be widespread if news of other beings became known.

Such a discovery would be a life changing event. Perhaps we would finally end hunger, disease, and other problems we deal with on a daily basis, if we had advanced knowledge from other sources. I guess the scary part, for many, is whether or not alien life is friendly and willing to assist humans. Movies and the media often portray a frightening image of extraterrestrial life forms.

I am excited to contribute to SETI's efforts and I hope that my involvement will assist in finding out more about our universe and its inhabitants. I believe SETI is very important and is providing research for what would be the most important discovery of all time.
