I graduated in 1978 the University in Timisoara, Romania, mathematics, specialized in computer programming. Astronomy is a hobby. Music is the other one.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Search for extraterestrial life is also a hobby :) ... which I cannot afford :( but at least I can help a little. I bought the nVidia GeForce 520 GT graphic card specialy for this. There's a little chance the project will have positive results. I tryed Milky Way at home for a while but I abbandoned. SETI is a mature project that knows how to make good use of my computer time. I even disabled the nice screensaver (in fact any screensaver) so that SETI has all power alocated. From this summer (2013) I added another computer to my machines. It's a quad core at 2.6 GHz with a 630 GT graphic card.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
