Personal background
I am living in Australia at the moment but am originally from the UK. I am a college lecturer, with an interest in sociology and cultural anthropology. My hobbies include photography, computing, movies, music, and socialising.

I live in the great South Western area of Western Australia, where I am just getting used to it being hot, when it should be cold, and cold, when it should be hot!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I am interested in one of the ultimate questions - can we discover life on other planets? In this massive and expanding universe, with its hundreds of billions of galaxies, it would be arrogance of the highest order to think we are alone. I feel that the search for extraterrestrial intelligences must be one of the highest priorities for an advanced (if I can use that term to describe us!) society.

I enjoy being a part of one of the largest distributed processing projects in the world, and it feels good to know that my contribution might, just possibly might, help to find that elusive signal from ET.
