Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't know if life exists outside of our small blue dot and if it should exist we will discover this by listening and watching and hopefully learning.
I feel there is inherent risk in any new venture when we rush in without studying all the facts.
I do not believe we should send a beacon signal. We should listen and learn. I don't believe that we are at the absolute top of the food chain. (Have you watched the news lately?)
I run the seti program because it allows me an oportunity to contribute to our knowledge base on a larger scale. The distrubited computation project seems to be highly successful.
I will also become a contributor to a distributed computation project for weather prediction when this program starts.
