Personal background
For starters (and just for the record), I'm human. I'm a native of Silicon Valley. We used to call it Santa Clara Valley when I was a kid. I'm an engineer, and a teacher among other things. I did work for a while at NASA in the early '90s. It was a great experience.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I used to run seti back in the late '90s. I lost my password and having changed ISPs, was unable to retrieve it (I hope they fixed that). When they changed to the Boinc program and I was unable to take my accumulated credit along, I decided to take my proverbial ball and go home. "I'll show them"

Well, just a decade or so later, I've gotten over it and am back to change the world (again)!

Seriously, I can't undestate how important this project would (will) be if, and when, it ever uncovers that elusive signal. I just recently got a new computer and decided I ought to put some of this horsepower into that worthy pursiut.
