Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@HOME because I don't like the thought of my computer doing nothing, which is what it would mostly be doing without a project like this. The project itself is worthwhile, but we must remember there is a chance WE are the first intelligent species in the universe. The spread of intelligent life throughout the universe may well be inevitable, but it has to begin sometime, and that time could just as well be now. We might be more significant than we like to think.
