Profile: UnseemlyWeasel

Personal background
I was born July 21, 1969, my mother actually went into labor watching Apollo 11 land. I have been fascinated with space from a very early age as a result. I have met Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, even commiserated some with Michael, being so close and so far away. My dream is to fly Virgin galactic once round trips are being made on a cost effective basis (Go, Richard Branson)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
While I understand that proportional analysis does not apply to astrobiology, I am convinced in ET life. The simple truth is out of the nine (whoops eight, sorry Pluto) eight planets in our solar system, 1 of them that we know of has life. There are according to NASA estimates 125 billion galaxies. With roughly 100 billion stars in our galaxy alone, that means there are possibly 12.5 sextillion stars. Let's say .01 percent of those stars have solar systems. This means approximately 1.25 quintillion solar systems are out there. Let's further say .01 percent of those solar systems have planets in the habitable zone, 125 trillion habitable zone planets. The same .01 percent for life? Or intelligent life? No one knows, but it will be cool to find out.
