Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
"There is a single light of science, and to brighten it anywhere is to brighten it everywhere" -- Isaac Asimov

I run SETI@home to be a part of the search. I joined the project when it first started in 1999, and had about 100 work units for which credit is unrecoverable;I have a written record of the first fifty-nine of them (recorded before the wu's were sent back to SETI via my dial-up modem!), including all of the stats (power, fit, drift rate, gaussians, base frequency, strongest of peak power), the location in the sky where the signal sample originated, and the start and end date/time! It seems like a small job now, but back then 100 wu's took a while. ;-)

A few years passed, and I am again participating in this project.
I have noticed that some recent wu's are from 1999; they may well have been some that I crunched way back then! Maybe this time through....
