Personal background
I've enjoyed learning about computers from the chips and interfaces to the machine, assembly, macro, and user-friendly languages. I built a career in this area. My hobbies include photography, hiking, walking, biking, and dancing.

For me the best life is one that involves both my head and my hands. A life with only one misses so much.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Although there are risks in attempting to receive communication or contact alien civilizations, it's still a natural quest to pursue. The universe is, historically, a violent place. For the human species to survive, it's essential that we learn more about our environment and set the stage, first, for trans-planetary settlement and possibly migration and second, for trans-stellar migration which, long after we are dead and gone--and no longer even a memory, will be required. SETI is an aspect of the exploration required to set the stage for this future work.
