Personal background
Hay huys i'm Tom Beane i'm 18 and i'm from Norwich which is the capital City of the East of England about two hours from London.
I've always been amazed by stars, imagining what sorts of things await us, and I have always dreamed of what I would say if I ever got to meet or speak to another being from space for the first time on behalf of the human race. So what would I say well i'd would tell them how diverse Earth is, what the main beleifs in religion are and what our views on topics are.. But I would also tell them the down side, how some people value life lessly and how we (The human race) are scared of things that we do not understand. But I would also say that Since the dawn of time Man has wondered what is around that next corner, over that mountain range and that it is human nature to be curruse and that yes like a Human child learning to walk yes we stumble and fall, but we get back up and try and try again until one day we are walking then we move oto the next task, the same applies to space travel, yes lives have been lost and accidents accure but this does not put us off, infact it spurs us on to go that little further and one day we will get out there amounst the stars and wonder what is beyond that next star cluster.

This is why i beleive that SETI is so important , that without it we could miss what could be humanities greatest moment since the dawn of time. But I also beleive that instead of just listening why not speak. Why don't we send a continuse message out to the stars, the last time we did this was in the 1970's I beleive that it is time to show how much as a civilisation we have grown in both technology and in science. I have often though what could we send in a message and this is what I can up with. Any advanced cizilisation mut know the common elements of gas etc so why not send a message of our periodic table, also send mathmatical numbers etc. You never know if we call and leave a message they maybe call back.
