Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ET exists, but advanced beings probably have little in common with, or interest in, us hominids. More likely, we'll find our evolutionary contemporaries via light or radio frequencies, or extra-atmospheric chemical signatures. No more beacons -- we've sent so many "beacons" already. I read "Contact" LONG before the movie ever came out.

I used to run SETI @ home on a much older, slower 'puter, under a different name -- I ran 20 or so WU's -- very slowly. I'm back with a laptop running an old Intel Celeron, and an iMac. I've always thought this was such a cool idea.

I was an early member of the Planetary Society (mid 80's), I attended the META dedication in Massachusetts in the late 80's, and I was a participant in President Reagan's National Commission on Space forums. Now I'm just a passive observer.
