Personal background
Hi my name is Alex, I am 21 years old from NJ, I currently attend the University of Illinois. I found out about Seti@Home from a Star Trek Voyager episode which was my initial reason for joining. That was about 5 years ago, but in between I stopped for a couple years...then about 2 years ago, I took an astronomy class offered here on extraterrestrial life, and decided to reinstall BOINC. I have ran it ever since, and have also since seen Contact several times, which helped convince me to keep it up.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Why do you run SETI@home?
I think the discovery of intelligent life on another world would force our world to work together in an unprecedented way that would solve so many of the problems we face as humanity.

2. What are your views about the project?
I know the chances of ever finding alien life by this method or any other are impossibly small, but if we don't even try then why bother even having hope.

3. Any suggestions?
I would concentrate more on Active SETI projects like sending our own messages out, and working on faster space travel...hopefully we'll be able to go to the closest 5-10 stars in 10-15 year voyages before I die.
