Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am sure there is a possiblity that extraterrestrial life exists, but I do not think it is common (after having plugged in my thoughts to the Drake equation). In my estimation using this technique, there is one or maybe two other contactable civilisations in our galaxy.

I am a firm believer that we should transmit a beacon, otherwise if we are making assumptions that other civilisations are like ours (in our search for them), then it becomes logical to think that if we do not send a beacon then they will not, therefore making our SETI in vain.
