I am Farid Char, I live in Antofagasta (Chile) and I hope can help to the SETI community. I have 23 years old and my main hobby is Astronomy, but also I like computers, science-fiction, animals, travels and movies; I am studying Psychology, definitely was not a good option, but I am very idiot with maths and it is a big problem for be a professional astronomer. Anyway, I usually spend my free time with a lof of astronomical activities. Finally, I like to listen classical, baroque and new age music.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I decided to run SETI@home now, because I am very interested in the project and the amazing possibility of discover any signals from an extraterrestrial intelligence. Like an amateur astronomer, one of my specific interests is the ET life, whose confirmation will be the next "giant leap" for the mankind.
I think this project is really great and useful, but is necessary to be patient and never give up if you don´t have "answers" from the Cosmos yet. SETI is one of those project whose success arrives behind schedule but surely!
I suggest that all people involved in SETI@home contribute to improve the image of the project, like a real scientific experiment and not an useless cost of time and money looking for signals impossible to find. |
