Profile: Layne Johnson

Personal background
I was a fighter pilot that got shot down and was reborn in 1958. I don't know how many lives I've lived but before that I was a cave man who discovered the warmth that caves provided compared to the freezing cold during the ice age. I later got frustrated with cave life and decided to go outside and freeze. Then my spirit hung around and watched as the last two people of our clan passed away. I was also an ape once but that's about all I can remember about that. It's amazing what you can learn from your dreams.

Favorite Hobbie: It doesn't happen all that often but I love to make people laugh, especially if it's by telling the truth and making them wonder whether or not I'm telling the truth. This causes them to seach themselves for information, which is where I get most of mine. My favorite dreams include flying and skating barefoot over water.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, I believe extraterrestrial life must exist. Considering the number of stars in the galaxy and the number of galaxies in the universe the odds of our planet being the only one with intelligent life is far too remote to imagine. I don't believe we will find it with radio waves. Considering the age difference between neighboring stars, the period of time that intelligent life uses radio waves is too brief for the evolution of life on separate planets to sync up with each other. If we do detect a radio signal, then by the time we receive the signal it will most likely be remnants of a civilization that has evolved past the stage of using radio signals. When humans evolve to the next level and communicate with each other using the same method that God and Satan use to communicate with us now, that's when we will find extraterrestrial life. (For all we know, God and Satan could be extraterestrials.) Of course, this will not occur until after Armageddon, which should happen at the end of this world war 3 that has started with the destruction of the world trade centers. According to Nastradomus, this war will last 27 years. However, he also predicted that this war would be well underway by 1999 so I think that figure has been shortened considerably.

2. Sure, we should transmit a beacon for others to find. If we find someone, it would prove my theory to be wrong but that certainly wouldn't bother me. Whatever information we send should be kept friendly.

3. I've been running SETI@home because I once thought that it was inevitable that we'd find extraterrestrial life. However, with my new theory described in item #1, my dedication to the program has decreased. But then, wouldn't it be exciting if we actually found someone out there?
