Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe et is out there.
He must be, the odds are against him not being there.
We should send a transmited signal, if we don't then imagine the worlds we look for not doing so , they may think the same and we would miss them. It would not take much to send a logic packet ie: primes , pi and a hydrogen diagram.
We run seti@home because we believe that there are still explorers out there but the only travelling in this direction that we as normal human beings can do is to assist in those that can (and maybe be recognised and appreciated for it at a later date). I'm sure that there were a large amount of people that were against sailing the seas 400 years ago and space travel 4 decades ago. Where would we be now if we did not. Some people believe that we should not try to find the answer to many of our human goals,we cannot help it ,it is part of our nature to solve a problem then ask another question. They do not realise that if we had listened to these people 500,000 years ago we would probably still be living in the caves wondering if it was possible to travel more than 15 miles per hour without suffocating.
If you can accomplish one task in your life , I believe the one that would count, would be the one that let mankind and humanity take another step forward.
Everybody should have a chance at being part of that.
