Personal background
I been with computers all my life. I first started on a computer when i was 5 (i think). it was a BBC type computer (a shift and break to start it type) nice it had 2 5.14 floppy drives and had a huge hard disk of 20 MB "ahh they were the days" then my next comp was a 286? with windows 3.1 had a 27 MHZ CPU (no net) then i had a 486 with a 100mhz cpu (i think could have been 77mhz)(no net) then we had a 150 Mhz 8 meg RAM 1 Gb HDD (33K modem net connection upgraded to a 56K) computer wich was later on upgraded to a 233MHZ 120MB-ish RAM 13Gb HDD (cable net connection) , then i taken a huge step and brought a 1.6ghz 192mb RAM 32mb graphics 40Gb HDD computer (no internet) wich 1 year on got stolen from my garden shed when i was decorating my room. about a month later i brought the computer i am on now wich is a 3ghz 512mb RAM with 3, 80gb HDD's and a 256mb graphics card (with lots of other USB disk drives) there the main computers i had in my time with them i have had loado of others that i butil or had given as spairs. im working on a server (ish) that is a Acer AMD K6 166mhz (was a P1 100mhz) CPU (eek) with 32 MB ram (was 8) and a (hahah) 850MB HDD (but i have a 8gb one to go in it) and a 1mb graphics card.. allwell its a project, not bad for £2.30 with the keybored, mice(x3), moniter and printes (x2)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is intresting to me.. when im not on a computer i can be found watching some program on one of the dicsovery channels, i allways liked astronomy right from being small and then theres the fact that mabe there is something out there thats clever enough to build a reciveing / transmitting radio i just like to know im helping out. when you are not useing your computer i think of it as being a waste so i run seti@home while my computer is idle, it auto kicks in by its self, nice screen saver built in too. makes a nice program.
