Personal background
I grew up as the son of a U.S. Army Chaplain (So. Bapt.) and spent most of my life on the move. It's a difficult lifestyle, but I've been able to see most of the U.S. (47 states so far) and quite a bit of Europe (during our 3 years in Germany) and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. I am now a middle-aged bartender in Memphis, Tennessee and still a student of human nature.
I've learned an important lesson over the years; most people are the same..... everywhere. I've met some of the greatest people on Earth and I've seen a lot of the trash of the world. I've been blessed with honorable friends, and screwed by people with the integrity of a jackal.
The interesting part of the lesson was the common stereotypes within those 2 groups. There aren't any. They couldn't be separated into colors. They couldn't be identified by nationality or their last name. They didn't follow the same religions and they don't speak the same languages. I found that the only way to separate them was to follow the advice of Dr. Martin Luther King... "judge them by the quality of their character...."
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Seems mighty arrogant and illogical to presume that the only forms of life that exist, exist exclusively on Earth. This is my meager contribution to search elsewhere.
