Personal background
Retired USAF computer programmer and former USMC tank commander.
Living with loving wife in Panama City, Florida since 1983.

My first computer was a Sinclair ZX81 in 1981.
Next was a used Apple II+ also in 1981.
On my birthday in 1984 I got my first Mac -- A 128K Mac.
Upgraded to it to a Fat Mac (512K) for Christmas the same year.
Along sometime in 1988 I purchased a Macintosh SE.
At this time I still had all the above computers except the Sinclair.
In 1994 I got a Mac Performa 637CD from Sears.
In 1995 I opened my Macintosh computer store in Lynn Haven, FL (Re*Mac Computers of Florida).

I pretty much stopped counting the number of computer I bought after that.
A couple I used the most were the Power Macintosh 6400 I used in the store office and the Power Macintosh 9500 I got for a graphics artist who then refused to pick it up so I retired the 6400.

The super stores put me out of business in 1997 - with Apple's help.
On my first visit to the new Apple store in Tampa, FL, I go a PowerMac G4 MDD with dual 100GHz processors. The G4 is still my personal computer right now.

I have also had several laptop models over the years, notably the PowerBook 540c, the PowerBook Duo 2300c and a used iBook 500 (dual USB) - I still use this one almost every day while watching TV.

I still have over 40 Mac computers around the house, out in the shed, and in storage units left over from the old store. Most (95+%) still work, but are worth less then 1% of their original value now.
I dumped some 70+ Apple II computers to empty one store unit. Half of these were only good for parts and no one would pay me $1.00 each to take them off my hands. I tried to donate them, but had no takers. Oh yes, I have an old Pentium II PC (maker unknown) out in the back yard shed I got at a yard sale for 40 bucks a couple of years ago. I use it to test CDs I burn, just to make sure my PC friends can read them. Man is that PC machine sslloowwwww.

The wife gets upset sometimes when she see the G4 not being used and powered up. I tell her I'm processing SETI data, but she think I'm just wasting electric we can't afford to pay for.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been a Sci-Fi fan for over 40 years and do believe there are other civilizations out there somewhere.
Someday I hope we will pick up a signal from them to prove we are not alone.
I hope by processing some of the data SETI collects, we will do this in my live time.

I wish everyone who leaves their computers on all day would sign up and help us get the job done.
