Personal background

Computer Technology Chair at Advanced College of Technology (A Division of National Polytechnic College of Engineering & Oceaneering, a National University Affiliate) in San Diego, CA. I have been in the IT industry so long I still call it DP from time to time. :) I also fancy myself to be a bit of an artist in metals, stone, and glass, sometimes with a bit of high-tech tossed in to make things interesting. See the self-portrait above.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

SETI is a long shot, but the only shot we have. Regardless of what some may say, it is highly unlikely that we are now, have been, or will at any reasonable point in the future be "visited". We are, at best, centuries away from really going anyplace. Radio is the only/best chance we have right now. Will SETI work? The odds are against it, but then again, I count cards at the Blackjack table!
